Education
Professional Education
The California Hospice Foundation partners with the California Hospice and Palliative Care Association to offer professional education opportunities and technical support designed to enhance the quality of local hospice programs throughout the western United States. We support the annual conference and other smaller programs throughout the year.
Public Education and Awareness Project
The California Hospice Foundation Public Education and Awareness Project is a series of efforts that address increasing awareness for end-of-life choices. The project calls for many approaches including: educational materials, a Choices newsletter, public outreach, and the new web site. Each component of the project strives to provide comprehensive information, which is essential if individuals and their loved ones are to be prepared for the choices that come with end-of-life. Each component is also designed to encourage individuals to learn more about hospice, and to share information with their friends.
- Choices Newsletter plays a critical role in providing information and support regarding significant issues to individuals and their families and to the Friends of Hospice
- Educational materials are provided at no cost and offer very specific information from What is Hospice? to Pain Management to Advance Directives
- Web site, new in 2009, provides additional opportunities for individuals to gather the information they need about end-of-life care, find hospice programs, download educational materials and stay informed about what's new.
- Health fairs and speaking engagements provide another opportunity to talk about end-of-life choices. We respond personally to these requests in our home office area of Sacramento and facilitate these requests, through referrals, to other areas. We are also happy to send printed educational materials for your use at events. Just CALL (888) 252-1010.
